Savor Time With Your Child

If there’s one precious commodity in modern family life, it’s time. Although there are still the same 24 hours in the day there always have been, they’re quickly eaten up by school, work, chores and errands. To make the most of the moments you have with your child, consider how your family spends its time.

Here are some suggestions:

• Reevaluate your to-do list. What can be left out or done less frequently? What can be done more efficiently?
• Reduce distractions. Turn off the TV. Don’t read every “news flash” on your phone. Spend a few hours simply being together.
• Preserve your weekends. If frantic weekday schedules can’t be changed, savor the weekend. Don’t over-program it with chores or activities.
• Multitask. Haven’t squeezed in any exercise? Go on a family hike. You’ll get a workout, and your child will enjoy some quality time with you.
