Play a Game About the Value of Words

Here’s a fun alphabet/money game that lets your child practice both language and math skills.

Assign each letter of the alphabet a monetary value. A is one cent, B is two cents, and so on.

Next, ask your child to give you the value of family members' names. “Whose name is worth the most?” “How much more or less?”

Then, have fun figuring out the value of other words together. Is gold worth more than silver? How much more is a dog worth than a cat?

What is the shortest word your child can think of that is worth the most?
