Give a Bad Morning a Fresh Start
Everyone has them—those mornings when things don't go as smoothly as you'd like. Your child—or you—might be a little grouchy or tired. Your elementary schooler is moving too slowly. You keep repeating, "Hurry up." You have to offer reminders to brush teeth, pack up school things. Your frustration rises.
On these mornings, decide to start over.
Stop and say to your child, "Hey, this isn't going too well. Let's start the morning over!" Then, leave the room. Come back with a big smile on your face and say, "Good Morning!" Hug your child as if you have just awakened.
You'll both feel better. You might even start laughing together. And both of you will have a happier, more productive day.
