Go for an Alphabet Hike

Who says education can only happen at a desk? To add learning to outdoor fun, turn an ordinary walk with your elementary schooler into an alphabet hike. Have your child write the alphabet on a piece of paper. Then grab a paper bag and set out together to find twenty-six items, one for each letter.

Pull up a Dandelion, pick up a Penny, dig for a Worm. Keep track of the letters you need as you go along. When you get home, ask your child to arrange the items in alphabetical order.
