Involve Your Child Before Conference Time

A little preparation makes parent-teacher conferences better. Before you have a conference with your child's teacher, have a talk with your child. Ask him these questions about how he thinks the year is going:

Listen carefully to your child's answers. Write them down and take them with you when you meet with the teacher.

When you return from the conference, let your child know you discussed the issues he raised. This will make it clear that you care about his opinions. It may also motivate him work harder, since he'll know you and the teacher are working together to help him be successful.
