Get a New Start to a Bad Morning

Everyone has them—those mornings when things don't go as smoothly as you'd like. Your teen—or perhaps you—might be a little grouchy or tired. Your teen is moving too slowly. You keep repeating, "Hurry up." You have to remind her to brush her teeth, pack up her backpack. Your frustration rises.

On these mornings, sometimes the best thing is to decide to start over.

Stop and say to your teen, "This isn't going too well. Let's start the morning over!" Then leave the room. Come back with a big smile on your face and say, "Good Morning!" Hug your teen as if you have just awakened.

You'll feel better. You might even start laughing together. And you both will have a happier, more productive day.
