Smooth the Transition into the New School Year
Once again, most children are facing changes as they start a new school year. Your child may be nervous. Here are some ways you can help smooth his transition:
- Reassure your child that he is up to the challenge of the work he'll be doing this year. Let him know that you and the teacher will work together to help him succeed.
- Talk about health and safety protocols so your child knows what to expect.
- Explain that no one is expecting your child to do everything perfectly. If he is confused, he can ask questions and get help.
- Encourage your child to spend time doing things he enjoys. If possible, have him participate with other kids, in person or online. It is the surest way for him to find new friends who share his interests.
- Put grades in perspective. Is your child doing his best? Is he learning? That's what is really important.
