Teach Your Child to Create Acronyms to Memorize

An acronym is a word made from the first letters of several related words. For example, the acronym for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration is NASA.

Your child can create and use acronyms to memorize a group of words. Most American children learn the names of the Great Lakes, for example. Teach your child to remember the word HOMES.

H = Huron
O = Ontario
M = Michigan
E = Erie
S = Superior

Help her think of other acronyms to remember groups of words for an upcoming test.
