Ask Your Child for an 'Evening News Report'

Does your child draw a blank when you ask, "What happened in school today?" When it comes to school, no news is not good news. You need to know as much as you can about your child's experiences in school.

To encourage your child to remember and relate school events, ask him to produce an "Evening News Report." To prepare it, he should make a list of a few things that happened during the day. A good time to do this is right after school, while things are still fresh in his mind.

Tell your child to be sure to balance the news. He should report on what made him happy and what was challenging. Then, over dinner, relax and enjoy this very special news program.
