Replace Screen Activities With More Productive Choices
Everyone knows too much of the wrong kinds of screen time isn't good for kids. And when parents focus on screens too much themselves, their children miss important family time.
To build your relationship and help your child think and learn, replace screen time with activities that bring you together. You can:
- Play board games.
- Plant an herb garden for your windowsill.
- Design a new game board.
- Involve everyone in making a family meal.
- Have a family sing-along.
- Take a walk. See what unusual things you can find.
- Read anything and everything.
- Try food from a different country. Locate that country on the map.
- Design a family emblem or logo. Draw or paste together pictures of things your family likes to do.
- Take turns talking about the best and worst things that happened to each of you that day.
- Create a secret code using letters and numbers. Use the code to write messages to each other.
- Look for interesting news articles. Discuss each event, its impact on the country and your family, and what each family member thinks about it.
