Play Rhyming Games to Increase Vocabulary

Rhyming games are good for children of all ages. They can help increase language skills, vocabulary and general knowledge. And they are easy to play anywhere!

Try picking a theme for your game based on something your child is learning. For children learning colors, you might try, "I'm thinking of a color that rhymes with stink" (pink). Or if the subject is the states, say, "I'm thinking of a state that rhymes with plane" (Maine). Or try coming up with rhymes for words from your child's spelling list.

Since the questions are short, each child's turn comes around often. No one feels left out or waits too long. And as you and your kids laugh over silly rhymes, you'll also be developing a love for words and language.
