Encouragement and Guidance From You Supports Success

Every child is different, and there's no one foolproof recipe for creating a successful student. But many successful students do seem to have one thing in common: parents and families who encourage and guide them. These families:

• Read with their children.
• Help their children get enough sleep and exercise.
• Ensure their children eat breakfast before starting the school day.
• Expect their children to work hard and achieve in school.
• Make sure their children attend school on time every day.
• Expect their children to show respect to people they meet, including the teachers, staff and students they see in school.
• Assign their children responsibilities at home.
