Start a Conversation About School Safety

Schools go to great lengths to keep students safe while they’re at school. But violence prevention must also happen at home. Talking to your child about safety matters on a regular basis is essential.

You can use questions like these to begin a family dialogue. Ask your child:

• What scares or frightens you?
• What makes you feel safe?
• What makes you angry?
• What are ways to solve a problem without hurting anyone?
• How would you promote safety in school?
