Help Your Child Keep a Time Log

Where does all our time go? Most of us don’t have a clear idea. To help your child learn the concept of time management, set aside one week to keep a family time log. Every half hour, record how you and your child spend your time. (Resist changing routines for this. If you usually spend an hour watching TV or scrolling on your phones, don’t change just because you’re keeping the log.)

Now, you and your child can start to make choices. Decide which activities are most important to you. Those should stay in your schedule. But is your family spending too much time on things that aren’t priorities?

The time log gives you and your child a clear picture in black and white of where your time is going. When you know that, you can make choices that are best for you and your family.
