Turn on Creativity With Crafts
Children learn many lessons from making art, including cause and effect, problem-solving and self-expression. The terrific thing about art is that it lets kids exercise their creativity.
To have some fun with art this month, try these projects with your child:
- Make peanut butter play dough. November is Peanut Butter Lovers Month. If your child has no nut allergies, celebrate by making and sculpting this edible dough. Combine one-half cup smooth peanut butter, one cup powdered milk and one-half cup honey to form a soft dough.
- Celebrate National Origami Day on November 11 by folding paper creations with your child. Look for patterns and instructions online or get a book from the library.
- Make a turkey puppet. Draw a turkey's face on the bottom of a paper bag. Cut a paper plate in half and have your child decorate it like a turkey's tail. Glue the plate to the side of the bag so it sticks up behind the turkey's face.
