When children have a positive outlook, they do better in school. Thinking about the good things in one's life builds that attitude.
Take time often to sit down together as a family. Make and share lists of what you're thankful for. Be sure to mention school and any progress your child is making. Has a school staff member done something special to help your child? Does a teacher make school so interesting that your child is happy to start each day?
Don't stop with just a list. Encourage your child to take a few minutes to say "Thanks" to the people who are making school a good experience.
