You want your child to learn, behave and be safe while at school. Here are some ways families can help make school a positive learning environment:

Review school rules and discipline policies with your child. Let your child know you support these rules, and maintain these expectations at home, too.
Talk with your child about behavior and safety issues. Role-play ways to behave in different situations. Make sure you and your child are both aware and comfortable with what to do.
Get involved with school efforts to prevent issues such as bullying among students.
Meet your child's friends and their families. Make sure your child spends time in safe, well-supervised settings when socializing away from home.
