Sometimes, we move from chore to chore or project to project and forget to enjoy what we have accomplished. Children often don't take time to stop and savor the good feeling that comes from a job well done.
Help your child learn to take pride in the results of efforts. If your elementary schooler prepares a snack, for example, you might say, “It’s fun to enjoy something you made, isn’t it?”
If your child shows creativity in a way that can be displayed, take the opportunity to display it. If possible, frame your child's art and hang it where everyone can enjoy it.
If you’re working on a challenging project, let your child see that you also stop to enjoy your successes along the way.
These actions will help your child recognize that doing a good job is very satisfying.
