Have Your Child Plan a Future Family Trip

Here's an activity that combines map skills, research and math. Have your child plan a pretend family trip to a park, museum, football stadium or other nearby place that would be fun to visit.

How would you get there? Help your child gather maps and transportation schedules. How long would the trip take? What should the budget for food and travel be? Your child will need to use math skills.

Once your child has made the plan, try to carry it out if possible. You'll have fun—and your child will see whether the research was correct.
