Learn the Characteristics of Children Who Achieve
What makes a child an academic achiever? One study found that high-achieving children share several important qualities.
Children who achieve in school:
- Are self-reliant. They don't wait for others to do things for them.
- Are realistic about their strengths and weaknesses.
- Feel responsible for their own activities.
- Set challenging—but realistic—goals.
- Plan carefully and intelligently.
- Know how to find and use help.
- Accept the fact that they will face obstacles and take that into account.
- Check their progress regularly.
- Use an achieved goal as the basis for new goals.
Foster these qualities and skills and watch your student achieve great things.
