A Lemon Game Builds Observation Skills

Successful students are careful observers. They look and notice the differences between things.

To help build keen observation skills, play this lemon game. Give each family member a lemon. Allow a few minutes for everyone to “get to know” their lemons and to jot down what they notice about them.

Next, put all the lemons in a bowl. Mix them up. Then ask everyone to find their own lemon. When they have, ask: Which of your observations helped you most in identifying your lemon?

Then, squeeze the lemons and make lemonade!

Don’t have any lemons? Try similar-sized apples, potatoes or pinecones.
